Bacon Code
- See wikipedia.
The Code
Letters of the hidden message could be encoded by substituting them by a group of five of the letters 'A' or 'B'
a AAAAA g AABBA n ABBAA t BAABA b AAAAB h AABBB o ABBAB u-v BAABB c AAABA i-j ABAAA p ABBBA w BABAA d AAABB k ABAAB q ABBBB x BABAB e AABAA l ABABA r BAAAA y BABBA f AABAB m ABABB s BAAAB z BABBB
Within a second text (cover text) the message could be hidden, by using the 'A's and 'B's to slightly change the appearance of the cover text. Originally this is done by using two different typefaces.
For FTLR and for easy use within html pages a modified version has been developed using the spaces bewtween the words. Single spaces for 'A' and double spaces for 'B'. Normally browsers will strip multiple spaces so that the text looks totally normal. The code could only be seen in the source of the page.
The Tool
Weezel developed a easy to use web tool for de-/encoding Bacon messages. The Tool could be found here with additional explaination regarding the method.
