Alfredo is Monica's now deceased (?) tio-abuelo/uncle. He told her stories of Jorge,"El hombre del laberinto" ("The man from the labyrinth"). Jorge gave Alfredo a piece of "El codex del anillo perdido" ("The codex of the lost ring") to hide. See Jorge's_Postcard.
