[edit] Discuss Stuff With Me

in the bottom section 'toolbox' there's a link for Special Pages. In there are a number of special layouts, from listing all current pages, to listing images, and even one for showing all images in a thumbnailed gallery form... check it out (I lvoe the Special Pags page :) also, if you have an idea of where an image may already be, see if it's shown on that page already too. --Thebruce 19:27, 11 March 2008 (MST) --and yeah, the sitemap is a custom page that has no content yet. Ideally, it should be a list of all the major sections, possibly subsections (but with so many criss-crossing pages, listing all the pages in some organized manner may just be chaotic)

Thanks, that will help alot. I gotta make sure to start using the summary edit as well, so its obvious what was done. Same thing looking at the images, it's real easy to see which ones go to which podcast, because they have a description. Quick and easy to find.Weezel 20:05, 11 March 2008 (MST)

If you'd like to use an external editor, or a firefox plugin, go right ahead... I use the standard web-based mediawiki editor. As for more visual formatting of the wiki... meh. again, if you want to add stuff for your end, go ahead. I like the solid standard format, and without browser compatibility concerns :P --Thebruce 22:24, 13 March 2008 (MST)

yeah for larger files like that, I usually upload them straight to the server rather than via the wiki. So they'd just be linked directly --Thebruce 21:54, 14 March 2008 (MST) yeah, I am saving the FLVs aready :) got in that habit a while back. Links to auto-translation tools would be useful - already bookmarked that suggestion in the forum to look into ;) hehe thanks for the reminders! --Thebruce 18:01, 14 March 2008 (MST)

I know, it's a toss up. I like having it that way too... I'm still kind of on the fence - having the nutshell paragraph is helpful, and major events could be included too; tried to make the Timeline link more prominent (I think I'll make it jump to an anchor at the end of the page actually), and the RSS link actually lists the news items newest first as well. *shrug* we'll see how it goes :) --Thebruce 15:13, 15 March 2008 (MST)

I enabled userjs, so go ahead and try. I believe that's all that's needed... I think --Thebruce

I'm going to bail on it for now and stick with the greasemonkey script.. it still doesn't work, even though the docs make it appear that it should..Weezel 07:30, 18 March 2008 (MST)

Hi, thanks for the welcoming! --Mika

yes I was beginning to wonder why you were reverting all the artifacttemplate versions :P I was going to get around to updating previous pages to the new template for that very reason. Makes the artifact pages uniform. No worries, it can be done over time anyhow, as long as everything looks right now. (still going over all the updates over the weekend) --Thebruce 20:19, 20 April 2008 (MST)

yeah it's a sideeffect of the NOEDITSECTION that's included on the new template. Compilaton pages that have some still using the old one would then not have an 'edit' link, where it's specifically added in the new template. I did that because the 'edit' link was mis-translating the actual location of the text, and editing a 'section' that didn't exist when clicked from a compilation page. better no 'edit' link than a bad one. so I got the code to manually add the edit link, which seems to work. Just means that older holding pages need to be updated. and you've been doing an amazingly awesome tedious job at that so far, thanks!  :) --Thebruce 22:30, 20 April 2008 (MST)

and good catch on the codex image. forgot about that. I was about to add an option in the template to allow a specific filename rather than the templated version, but since the chapter 1 images were the only instances of it, and you fixed it already, it would just be a wasted adjustment :) tnx --Thebruce 09:59, 21 April 2008 (MST)

yes, sandbox. I'm too lazy :P templates are annoying like that - -can't test them unless you save them. Thankfully repeated edits are grouped together in the recent changes page. But edit notifications can get repeated, true. I turned off my notifications and just watch the recent changes rss feed :) --Thebruce 09:05, 7 May 2008 (MST)

and yes, I don't expect to give awards out :) But I was planning to make some comments about AUZ505 and you and a couple others who've really been putting a lot of time into the content, which is superb. Machines, I tell you. ;)

I was giong to handle the mission one. I'm not hugely for it, just because all it does is allow a different pre-text in the feed, and a different graphic on the timeline; and mission updates are rare, and really they're usually echoes of stuff we're working on :P but I have the graphics and I can do it. - as for the award - I wanted to give it specifically because of that reason - you and auz505 are littering the updates for the past month or two ;). - and I didn't make the template update for my page, that's just the first one I did it on; I was adjusting it so it displayed more like a badge - more than one per line if the browser has room, no ugly text wrapping, etc. It's a little more optimized. Just me and my DHTML perfectionist OCD ;) --Thebruce 09:19, 7 May 2008 (MST)

Okay, this is a really strange kind of messaging system.

In response to the note you left on my page -- Glad to be here! I have found several translation errors and have done my best to correct them. Usually they are minor, but I just corrected one in which the differences are conceptually quite big. I think the original translators did a great job of figuring out what the original author intended, and the errors I've found are probably due to oversight. This is my first ARG (as if you couldn't figure that out.) I'm also in the SCA, Kingdom of the West. Doing my best to get them to do more archery activities. -Lunombrulino

Thank you, Weezel, for the tip on using Wikis. may I impose on you for one more piece of information? Where are people finding the Omphalos navigation vectors? I've been looking through the discussions to no avail. Lune 11:42, 20 May 2008 (MST)

Never mind. I found it. Lune 15:52, 20 May 2008 (MST)
